A final day full of tech, reflection and perspective

On the final day of the Orchard of the Future US trip, 11 July 2025, several meaningful encounters were still on the agenda. Technology companies saw how their own solutions are quite literally built into the American supply chain and experienced what it means when control and precision are applied down to the smallest detail. Afterwards, there was time for reflection and relaxation, first at the foot of a waterfall and later by the water in Seattle. A fitting conclusion to an intensive and rewarding week.

Controlled atmosphere takes center stage

The day began at Columbia Fruit Packers, where everything revolves around storage technology. Topics such as controlled atmosphere and ultra low oxygen were front and center. For companies like Optiflux, Storex and Salco this was familiar ground. In fact, Storex machines were running on site. A live demonstration using sulphur sticks revealed just how meticulously oxygen leaks are detected. For the participants, it was not only a technical deep dive but also a clear example of how close the link must be between innovation and practical use.

Retail reflection at one of the industry giants

On the way to Seattle, the group made a short stop at the retail store of one of the largest fruit producers in the world. While the in-store experience was less impactful than the work in the field, it did offer a glimpse into how consumer engagement and branding also play a role in the chain.

A pause with perspective at Snoqualmie Falls

A stop at Snoqualmie Falls gave space to take in the landscape, the week and the many impressions. The waterfall and its surroundings offered a literal breath of fresh air. For some, a moment of reflection, for others simply a chance to enjoy the view.

Closing dinner by the water in Seattle

The trip concluded in Seattle with a dinner by the waterfront. With views of the harbor, boats and the setting sun, conversations sparked one last time. About plans, collaborations and ideas to take home. Orchard of the Future sees these moments not as extras but as essential in building a network that lasts beyond a single visit.

Final day 5 shows the strength of Orchard of the Future

This last day once again demonstrated how relevant technology is at every step of the chain. From storage conditions to customer experience and from precision to perception. Orchard of the Future helps technology companies not only to find opportunities but to recognise connections. It is in the meeting of content and context that space emerges for real collaboration.
